Deadpool and Cable Will Headline R-Rated "Black Ops" X-FORCE Ensemble Movie

Back in January, it was confirmed DEADPOOL 2 would begin to set up a movie path leading to the ensemble team-up movie X-FORCE. X-Force, also created by Deadpool and Cable creator Rob Liefeld, has seen many roster changes in the comics over the years but both Deadpool and Cable have been team members in the past.

According to producer Simon Kinberg, in an interview with Deadline, the two will headline the big screen version of an R-rated X-FORCE movie.

“[X-FORCE] is a combination of Deadpool and Cable. They’re like the Black Ops of the X-Men. They’re much darker and have an R-rated decibel. There are other X-Men characters coming into X-Force at different times in the comic, but it’s separate from X-Men.”

DEADPOOL 2 might still be in development right now, and will begin filming later this year for a 2018 release, but writer Joe Carnahan is reportedly (via Collider) already at work on a script for X-FORCE.

After the huge worldwide box office success of DEADPOOL — over $750 million worldwide on a $58 million production budget — and now LOGAN — which just opened to nearly $250 million worldwide on a reported $97 million production budget — 20th Century Fox is smart to continue to focus on creating R-rated Marvel movies. Especially since you'll never see Disney's Marvel Studios produced anything more mature than PG-13 films. (And before you start to say how the Netflix Marvel shows are mature-rated you're right, but Marvel Studios only produces movies and has nothing to do with those shows since they are produced by Marvel TV.)
