Fox Needs to Announce Their Next X-Men Movie Because They Have a Problem With Leaks

It is unknown whether it is rumor or not, but word on the street is that the next X-Men ensemble movie is called X-MEN: SUPERNOVA. The basic plot will allegedly follow the story of Jean Grey becoming the Dark Phoenix. However, 20th Century Fox has yet to confirm any of this, as of the publishing of this post.

Meanwhile, Fox has three release dates set in 2018 and one in 2019 for unknown Marvel movies but the honest truth is that the only two movies are currently in active development: DEADPOOL 2 and NEW MUTANTS. Sorry to GAMBIT fans, but that movie is stuck in development purgatory. No other Marvel movie projects by Fox have been confirmed, yet rumors continue to hit the web about another X-Men film.

Over on Collider, they have heard that Fox's resident X-Men producer and writer Simon Kinberg could take the helm as director of the next X-Men movie. But this would be his first directing gig and that comes with a tremendous amount of risk for the studio, the future of the X-Men franchise and for Kinberg's own career. If there's failure then things could come crashing down for all parties involved as well as for the mutant ensemble franchise.

Then there's the recent leaks. Most recently was this past weekend, when a comment by Sophie Turner was made to the website HeyUGuys confirming she begins filming a new X-Men movie soon.

“We’re about to start shooting the next X-Men, we’ve just finished shooting Season 7 of [Game of] Thrones, and I’ve got a couple of movies to do before X-Men starts. And then we go on to Season 8.”

So Turner knows what's going on, especially since she would be the focal point of a potential X-MEN: SUPERNOVA movie featuring the Dark Phoenix, but Fox still hasn't said anything. This comes after a possible synopsis hit the web last week for this new X-Men movie as well as claims it might start filming as early as this June in Montreal.

Bottom line, Fox just needs to get out in front of all these rumors and leaks because they haven't been that successful in keeping this next movie quiet at all — if any of this is true, of course.
