No Director, Release Date or News on the GAMBIT X-Men Spin-Off Movie is a Really Bad Sign

If there's one movie that is caught in the worst kind of limbo it is Fox's hopeful X-Men spin-off movie GAMBIT. It has lost two directors and the last piece of news about the movie was in November 2016 when the studio pulled GAMBIT from its theatrical release date.

Currently, GAMBIT does not have a release date and it still does not have a director attached. Welcome to Hollywood movie project purgatory.

What is still happening with this movie is that actor Channing Tatum is attached to star in the title role as Remy LeBeau. This was confirmed as still being true to Collider by Fox producer Lauren Shuler Donner during an interview at the 2017 Television Critics Association.

When she was asked how Tatum is preparing for the role, she quipped, "You'll have to ask Channing."

This all sounds like nothing is happening with this project and at this point if you haven't starting telling yourself that this movie isn't getting made, it's probably best to start doing it. There's always a chance GAMBIT eventually gets made — it took DEADPOOL years and years to get a green light from the studio although it always had an actor, director and two writers attached and waiting — but it doesn't sound like it's high up on the producer's project list, at the moment.
