Wrap Party: 2016's Worst Things in Super Hero Movies

With 2016 rapidly coming to a close it is time to look back at the past year. Welcome to the DailySuperHero.com wrap party!

These were the worst from super hero movies in 2016:

Warner Bros. Not Releasing the Best Version of DC Movies in Theaters

Warner Bros. isn't Marvel Studios, who can set a release date and meet it with a high quality movie. Because of this Warner Bros. needs to stop chasing a release date before having a solid script in place. Hopefully, they learned their lesson by releasing subpar theatrical cuts of BATMAN V. SUPERMAN and SUICIDE SQUAD only to release extended cuts of each on Blu Ray months later, angering lots of fans. While the SUICIDE SQUAD home release didn't add anything substantial to its story, and need to tell a better story, the Ultimate Edition of BATMAN V. SUPERMAN was in fact a slightly better version of the movie that what was seen in theaters.

THE BATMAN writer, director and actor Ben Affleck seems to be teaching the studio the correct way to develop a big budget movie project since he doesn't want a release date for THE BATMAN set until he's happy with its script and story. That's how you do it!

The fans, the actors, the production crew and these characters all deserve the best right out of the gate. Fingers crossed it starts with WONDER WOMAN this summer.

Badly Written Roles For Apocalypse and His Four Horsemen

Apocalypse being a bad villain was not a result of actor Oscar Isaac's performance because it was a badly written and developed character by producer and writer Simon Kinberg as well as director Bryan Singer. Same goes for the Horsemen. One of the X-Men's most famous villains suffered big time on the silver screen as did his four followers who all stood around looking cool more than actually being badasses.

Please note: Actor Michael Fassbender's performance as Magneto and individual story arc before becoming a Horseman are the best parts of X-MEN: APOCALYPSE.

Jared Leto Disclosing the Gross Things He Sent His Co-Stars

Sending dead animals, used condoms and other weirdly gross shit... C'mon dude. That's not being a method actor, that's just being disgusting. Why did he tell anyone any of this? For pride of being a method actor?

Respect is given to Leto's past acting work, but his version of the Joker was painful to watch; now funny because of how many thought his tattoos would be too much of a distraction. Maybe there's a better performance that was left out of the movie. But at this point perhaps losing his relationship with Harley Quinn can be the plot device to help the Joker change his character portrayal and personality in future appearances by Leto.

THE FLASH Losing its Second Director Pretty Much Delaying its Release

This is not really from a movie released in 2016, but this news still sucked. THE FLASH is based on a treatment by THE LEGO MOVIE and HAN SOLO Star Wars spin-off directors Chris Miller and Phil Lord, so there's probably a really fun and great story at the core of THE FLASH. Unfortunately, the movie has lost two directors during its development process and with a release date set for March 23, 2018, it's highly unlikely this movie will meet this date.

Seems likely THE FLASH will get pushed back to late 2018 or 2019.

Marvel Studios Can't Lock Down its Pick For a Female CAPTAIN MARVEL Director

So, like THE FLASH, this isn't from a movie released in 2016 but the role of CAPTAIN MARVEL director is still unfilled. Early in 2016, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige said his braintrust would pick and announce its female director for CAPTAIN MARVEL by the end of the summer. Everyone, including us here at DailySuperHero.com, thought San Diego Comic-Con 2016 would be the big reveal of the director's name, but the only thing announced for CAPTAIN MARVEL was Brie Larson in the title role as Carol Danvers. In 2017, fans should get word on who will direct the highly anticipated, and Marvel Studios' first, female-led super hero movie. (Fingers crossed the movies doesn't get pushed back a third time.)

Fox For Not Making DEADPOOL Sooner

This is a no-brainer now that DEADPOOL is Fox's highest grossing Marvel movie moving past all previous X-Men films with over $782 million worldwide. (Impossible to resist this easy dig on Fox.)
