Disney's Pixar has swapped the release dates previously set for THE INCREDIBLES 2 and TOY STORY 4.
THE INCREDIBLES 2 moves from its June 21, 2019 and it will now release on June 15, 2018, while TOY STORY 4 moves back to the June 21, 2019 spot.
While not reported as such, this appears to be a sign that writer and director Brad Bird and the Pixar animation teams are ahead of schedule with THE INCREDIBLES 2 production to the point where a swap had to take place. However, this could also imply that cracking the story for TOY STORY 4 has been tougher than expected.
Released in 2004, THE INCREDIBLES opened with $70 million in the U.S. and finished with $633 million in the worldwide box office. THE INCREDIBLES 2 was officially announced as Disney's D23 Expo in Anaheim in summer 2015.
