IRON FIST Will Tackle the Topics of the Financial World in New York and Corporate Wealth

Marvel Television has not been shy about going after relevant modern day issues in their Netflix shows. From the abuse topics in JESSICA JONES to the racial topics in LUKE CAGE, Marvel TV is going after these themes head-on.

Next up is IRON FIST and its theme will cover the topic of the One Percent. Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb spoke with ComicBookResources and touched on this topic.

“It has to do with a number of things, but — if we had to boil it down — [‘Iron Fist’] is a very hard look at the One Percent,” Loeb told reporters at New York Comic Con, adding, “Or — in this particular case — the One Percent of the One Percent and how that affects our world on a day-to-day basis.
“We’ve been saying from the very beginning that New York City is the fifth Defender. We’ve seen Hell’s Kitchen, we’ve seen Harlem, but we really haven’t seen the high-end world, the financial world of New York, which is such a big part of it,” he continued. “As Stevie Wonder once said, ‘Skyscrapers and everything.’ That kind of billionaire existence, high-level corporation, Big Pharma, things like that — we get a chance to sort of put our little Marvel mark on and see what happens.”

So IRON FIST will take on the topic of the One Percent and it's Marvel TV's homage to martial arts films, too. Is it March yet?

IRON FIST premieres exclusively on Netflix on March 13, 2017.
