Stan Lee Gets Atop His Soapbox to Share His Disappointment in DOCTOR DOOM on Film

Thank you Stan Lee for creating so many amazing characters in the Marvel universe. You have proven to be a modern day inspiration to creatives everywhere. And thank you for telling it like it is for so many years from your soapbox in the back of older Marvel comic book issues simply titled, 'Stan's Soapbox.'

Which brings us to Stan telling it like it is once again, even at the age of 93, while speaking with ComicBookResources. Stan told CBR who his least favorite Marvel movie character portrayal is... and it is none other than one of Marvel Comics' greatest villains... Doctor Doom.

“I was a little disappointed in the very first ‘Fantastic Four,’ because I didn’t care for how Doctor Doom was portrayed. But other than that, I thought the movie was great. And the actors were terrific."

Stan, then, did what Stan does and that's show appreciation for all Marvel movies no matter if they are consider good or bad films.

“I believe they captured the spirit and the intent of all of the characters, and I’m delighted with how they all turned out. None of them have disappointed me. In fact, I think all of these movies have come out better than everybody ever thought they would… Even the early ones were good. Maybe I’m just my own biggest fan…”

Every Stan Lee-created character that makes it into a movie must be a thrill for him to see on the big screen. Decades of creating and hard work shown for the first time in a movie has to be what keeps Stan young at heart. The latest would was seeing Black Panther in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR, who Stan created and first introduced in 'Fantastic Four No. 52' in July 1966.

Now if only 20th Century Fox could properly portray Doctor Doom in a movie... Stan wants it.

Or let Marvel Studios try it by giving the franchise rights back to all-things Fantastic Four... all Marvel fans really want this.
