SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING Adds Actor Michael Chernus as the Tinkerer

Back in May a rumor hit the web stating the villains of SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING would in fact be the Vulture and the Tinkerer. The Vulture has since been confirmed via concept art released at San Diego Comic-Con last month as well as with actor Michael Keaton donning the villain's wings.

Initially the rumor stated that the Tinkerer would aid the Vulture and possibly create his wing-suit. While this still remains to be confirmed, Deadline is now reporting that actor Michael Chernus (ORANGE IS IN THE NEW BLACK) will portray the Tinkerer.

In the comics, the Tinkerer "has an almost superhuman gift of genius in engineering, able to invent sophisticated gadgets from nothing more than spare parts left over from ordinary household appliances." The villain is usually portrayed as an older male, so it seems like director Jon Watts is switching things up a little bit by making the Tinkerer much younger.

SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING is currently filming at Pinewood Studios in Atlanta and releases on July 7, 2017.
