Here's the Short List of CAPTAIN MARVEL Directors Being Targeted by Marvel Studios

Last month at San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios lifted the veil of secrecy on who landed the coveted role of Carol Danvers in CAPTAIN MARVEL. With Brie Larson in place and to star in the studios' first female-led movie, now it's time to start figuring out which directors are being considered.

The Hollywood Reporter has the scoop on Marvel's short list of three director names which includes: Niki Caro, Lesli Linka Glatter and Lorene Scafaria as the top contenders. THR also cites how another name, or two, could pop up soon since no decision has been made by studio head Kevin Feige and his braintrust.

These names are typical Marvel Studios going after lesser known names. It's a method that's landed them Joe and Anthony Russo, James Gunn as well as Scott Derrickson. (No offense guys.) And all of these gentlemen — with Derrickson the exception right now until DOCTOR STRANGE releases on November 4 — have proven themselves more than worthy of helming a big Marvel Studios blockbuster movie and turned it into a return for sequels.

CAPTAIN MARVEL releases on March 8, 2019 so there's plenty of time to pick the right director while screenwriters Nicole Perlman and Meg LeFauvre hone its script.
