Even Though Marvel CCO Joe Quesada Can't Speak For Marvel Studios He Says NAMOR Movie Rights Are Back

Before you get too excited about any of this, understand that Marvel CCO Joe Quesada specifically says that he cannot speak for Marvel Studios. This is due to the studio no longer being under the leadership of Marvel's New York offices, where Quesada resides under the direction of Marvel CEO Ike Perlmutter. Marvel Studios is based at Disney Studios in Burbank under the direct supervision of Disney Studios head Alan Horn.

But now Quesada has told Kevin Smith, on a recent Fat Man on Batman Podcast via CBR, the franchise rights to NAMOR are back with Marvel Studios.

"I can't speak for studios...As far as I know, yeah we do. It’s not at Fox, it’s not at Sony... Yeah," Quesada says then adds the following about seeing Namor appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe soon, "I cannot confirm or deny, sir."

Perviously, in July 2014, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige stated the franchise rights to NAMOR were complicated.

"...[I]t’s slightly more complicated than that. Let’s put it this way – there are entanglements that make it less easy. There are older contracts that still involve other parties that mean we need to work things out before we move forward on it. As opposed to an Iron Man or any of the Avengers or any of the other Marvel characters where we could just put them in."
