BATMAN V. SUPERMAN: Zack Snyder Considered Bryan Cranston For Lex Luthor

Whether you love or hate actor Jesse Eisenberg, in BATMAN V. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE, and his totally different take on Lex Luthor you can bet there are many places across the Internet debating it right now. But before he landed the role there were several rumors on the web claiming Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston was up for the role.

Cranston debunked those rumors shortly afterwards, but nobody really believed him until Eisenberg was officially brought onto the cast.

Now, director Zack Snyder has confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that he indeed considered (and seemingly met with at least once) Cranston for the role. EW reported the following:

"At that point, they had were still interviewing actors about the Luthor role – most of them older, more imposing figures, such as Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston.
"'We talked about the usual suspects that you would imagine; any actor who has been bald, probably,' Synder says. 'Bryan Cranston would have been great, right? And by the way, he’s an amazing actor. Can you imagine how different the movie would be?'
"Instead, they decided to take a chance and experiment with a younger, weirder, and more frenetic Lex. Eisenberg said yes, but that wasn’t his first impulse when it came to the Jimmy Olsen part."

This is a big reveal simply because of those who did not like Eisenberg's performance. Cranston probably would have been a dream casting decision for those people.

Unfortunately, it seems like Snyder and his producers wanted something different... really, really different. And that's exactly what they got with Eisenberg's Lex Luthor in BATMAN V. SUPERMAN.
