AQUAMAN to "Show a Really Different, Cool, Badass Side" of the Hero

Aquaman. He's been the butt of jokes so much over the decades that even in his first issue of DC Comics' New 52 launch in 2011 there were casual people in the comic itself making jokes at his expense. This is part of the appeal of DC Films' AQUAMAN movie because he's a hero who has been made fun of for so long that he really deserves his time to show the world he's not just a laughing matter anymore.

Now that BATMAN V. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE is out and briefly introduces actor Jason Momoa as Aquaman, he will be get his own turn to shine on the big screen in both JUSTICE LEAGUE and his own AQUAMAN solo movie.

While speaking with IGN, at WonderCon 2016 this past weekend, AQUAMAN director James Wan teased a badass Aquaman fans have yet to see yet.

“I think Aquaman is a character that is, you know, a lot of people have made fun of over the years, and I just think it’s fun to actually show a really different, cool, badass side to this character, but at the same time, let’s not forget to have fun with it."

There's been many variations of Aquaman over the years but it seems evident with the casting of Momoa that Warner Bros. and DC Films' producers want a version of Aquaman for a new generation of fans.

AQUAMAN releases on July 27, 2018.
