Looking Back at the LEGENDS OF TOMORROW Panel From NYCC 2015

If you’re like me, Comic-Con is your nirvana, your happy place and your paradise. But for any faithful nerd out there, if you don’t know every single piece of info that’s released on your binge-faithful television shows or newest blockbuster film, it can make you feel just a few rungs short of going completely mental. So with that being said, let’s do a little review of the "X's and O's" to come from last month's New York Comic-Con for the new CW series, LEGENDS OF TOMORROW.

Showrunner Phil Klemmer dished out the juiciest news in regards to LoT*. He stressed a lot of new differences from this CW show as opposed to the current ones. Some of the unsung characters that we will be witnessed to are bringing “new psychological tendencies.” Speaking of characters, there’s also going to be a “roving spotlight” and a lot of team shifting in episodes. In a bit of a twist, Klemmer also teased a few romances for the season. “Anytime you’re in close quarters, weird things happen.” CAN I GET A HEATWAVE AND WHITE CANARY HOOKUP PLEASE?!

Although pretty well-known, if you’ve seen the trailer, my current watch count is 15-20 times, you’ll know time travel is huge in this show. Klemmer again spoke as saying you’ll see most of the action in this show around the “1950s and 1970s” with topics ranging from the Cold War, Fascism and terrorism. But Klemmer also stressed time travel is as much of the real problem as Vandal Savage. It was revealed during the panel that some episodes will have no bad guy at all and the team will be challenged with “fixing their own screw-ups.” Even with all this info given out, Klemmer had me at hello when he said we’ll see White Canary in “go-go boots.”

Most of the cast members on hand were pretty silent in terms of not giving too much away. Ciara Renee again touched on her characters “complicated” relationship with Hawkman. Although if you did your homework (via binging animated Justice League episodes on Netflix) you knew this was coming. Brandon Routh also said much of the current death situation surrounding Ray Palmer would eventually “be worked out” which means we will hopefully start to see a few LoT mentions come to light on THE FLASH and ARROW

A quick post-con piece of info was recently dished out. WB revealed that Green Arrow 2.0 “Connor Hawke” is set to appear on LoT. Although, he won’t be portrayed as the son of Oliver Queen or possibly even another version of the emerald archer himself... sigh.

After viewing this panel, I think my excitement for this show has grown even more. It seems like the people behind LoT are really pushing the characters as the real juice to this show. Klemmer again stressed the narratives to these characters as “digging under humanity.” The tensions of the team will turn into “fresh” and “pure chaos.”
