Exclusive! STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS Finn Last Name Reveal on Amazon is Not an Official Listing

There is a wild STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS rumor making the rounds online using an Amazon listing as proof of confirmation of Finn's last name. However, this has been debunked by a source of The Daily SuperHero who works closely with Amazon and their product listing operation.

But before I get into the how and why this listing has been debunked, I have to warn you that this post is specifically talking about the spoiler-y Amazon listing, specifically. And why it is not an official Amazon listing. It could still be the character's last name but it would never be revealed in this manner.

The following information is courtesy of a person who works closely with Amazon but wanted to remain anonymous in order to not compromise their job. The source writes the following:

"There are several reasons why this listing is not an official Amazon listing and was created by one of Amazon's marketplace sellers.
  1. Only a seller who pays a $40 per month seller fee to Amazon can actually create new listings on the retailer site.
  2. Amazon requires all sellers who can create new listings to provided a listing image that only has a white background. When Amazon themselves create official listings, the background in the image is always white. Any image with a non-white background, or in this case a gray background, is created by an Amazon marketplace seller.
  3. When Amazon officially creates listings they would never put a movie spoiler in the title of any listing. The online retailer works closely with both manufacturers and, when there are movie tie-ins, studios in order to not reveal spoilers.
  4. Referencing what was just said in the last point, since Amazon works closely with studios for movie tie-in products, they know that it's Lucasfilm Ltd. and not 'Lucas Films Ltd.' as it is written in the byline of this unofficial listing. Side note: 'Lucas Films Ltd.' is so wrong it hurts and should have been a red flag that it is an unofficial listing.
  5. There is an official Amazon listing for this item which can be seen here."

To visually show what the source says in the final point, take a look at these images. The first image is the official listing on Amazon. The second image is the seller created one.

So there you go... it's an unofficial listing. While Finn could still be Lando's son in the movie, fans will have to wait for such a reveal while in their theater seat.
