Could This Marvel Team Make an Appearance in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2?

The Marvel team being referred to in the headline is not the Avengers. While this is just a rumor post, this post could contain SPOILERS for the sequel.

Not much is really known about GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 except for what writer/director James Gunn has teased to fans on his social media accounts. It has been confirmed that filming at Pinewood Studios in Atlanta begins in February 2016.

Well here's a little tidbit that needs to be chalked up as rumor. According to one of The Daily SuperHero production insiders Gunn might be including, or he may have been considering to include, the Spaceknights in the sequel. Please note: Gunn has previously disclosed he is a big fan of ROM the Spaceknight in a podcast from January 2015 (transcribed via Blastr).

"Listen, I really love Rom: Spaceknight, as everyone at Marvel knows because they've given me Rom stuff... but we don't own Rom. I would love for Rom: Spaceknight to show up because I love his story, I love the way he looks, I love everything about him..."

While Marvel no longer owns the rights for ROM, they do hold the rights for the Spaceknights. In fact, and this is pure speculation, one of the reasons the publishing side of Marvel is bringing back the Spaceknights this fall could be to potentially prepare movie audiences for the Spaceknights in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Again, this is just rumor right now. Trying to get a confirmation on this actually being in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 is very tough right now seeing as how Gunn has quite the lockdown on the pre-production process in Atlanta right now. Regardless, this possible new information is still worth sharing.
