Frank Grillo on Being Crossbones in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR - "The Scars Are Not Healed"

At the end of CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER Brock Rumlow is seen to have survived the Helicarrier crashing into the Triskelion but he was badly burned and scarred. This was an obvious cue Rumlow would return but as his comic book villain counterpart Crossbones for CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR.

And this is exactly what is happening as set photos from Civil War filming in Atlanta had previously revealed Crossbones' official movie look (see image below). Actor Frank Grillo returns to the role of Rumlow / Crossbones for Civil War and he recently spoke with SlashFilm where he teased his role in next summer's big Marvel Studios movie.

"The scars are not healed. The scars are terribly bad but the helmet comes off and you get to see that. It’s a lot of physical stuff, without giving too much away, but there is a little bit of everything."

How large of a role Crossbones has in Civil War is unknown but Grillo was not in Atlanta for long so it's assumed Crossbones may have a smaller role than most Marvel fans hoped he would have. In a movie that has nearly as many heroes as the previous Avengers movies, there's only so much screen time to go around.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR releases on May 6, 2016.
