Report: Marvel is Being Very Careful When Creating New Comic Book Characters They Don't Own Movie Rights For

Comic books aren't the main focus of content and coverage on The Daily SuperHero (at least not now at this point of the website's life) unless it is a really big story. And there's no bigger story than when information comes out about Marvel comics and how it affects their licensed movie properties with 20th Century Fox and Sony.

You've probably heard rumors about how Marvel doesn't want new characters made when another studio owns the live action franchise rights. And if you haven't heard this yet, Google it. But you probably haven't heard the latest when it comes to Marvel's most popular new hero, Spider-Gwen.

This all comes from BleedingCool, via CBR, who found quotes from Spider-Gwen artist and co-creator Robbi Rodriguez in a deleted post on the website SuperiorSpiderTalk which was still cached on Google. (Click the hyperlinks above on BleedingCool and CBR to read more.)

The basis of all this is that Marvel doesn't want any new characters created for Spider-Gwen because when it happens then Sony gets first look and use of those new characters in any future movie adaptation. While details are still vague, Marvel has not confirmed anything when it comes to implementing stipulations to its comic creators from introducing new characters in titles when Fox or Sony own the movie franchise rights.
