AGENT CARTER Season 2 to Have a Film Noir Feel, Howard Stark Will Return & a Familiar Comic Book Villain is Coming

I am a bigger fan of AGENT CARTER than I am a fan of AGENTS OF SHIELD. This is mostly due to AGENT CARTER being a period piece series and its focus on the beginning of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. AGENT CARTER may have had some down moments in Season 1, but overall it was a great addition to Marvel's expanding universe.

When it seemed like AGENT CARTER wasn't getting a green light for Season 2, I was sad because the rumors kept implying an AGENTS OF SHIELD spin-off was coming and I wanted to continue learning about the beginnings of S.HI.E.L.D. in the 1940s. Luckily, and thankfully, Marvel TV and ABC scrapped the spin-off idea and went with Season 2 instead.

It's already known that Season 2 will transport Peggy Carter from New York to Los Angeles and in an interview with Den of Geek, leading actor Hayley Atwell teased the new season and how it may have a bit of a film noir feel to it.

"I’ve not started work on it yet, but it’s been written. I do know that, one thing they have decided, is that it’s going to be set a year later. So it’s 1947, it’s going to be set in L.A., and I keep on thinking about L.A. Confidential, that kind of film noir, which would be great."

She then teased a new romantic interest and revealed both Jarvis and Howard Stark will return.

"And I think there will be a new romantic interest, um, and then I think there might also be… Well, there will be, repetition of characters. So Jarvis and Howard will be there with us again. Yeah, we can’t have a show without those guys."

In a separate interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Michelle Fazekas teased a new villain who will be familiar to comic book readers.

“People who are fans of the Marvel comic book universe will recognize our villain and there’s more than one villain. We’re certainly taking inspiration from the comic book universe, so anybody who knows that will be rewarded.”

There is no official release set for AGENT CARTER Season 2 but it seems likely to once again fit right into the mid-season break of AGENTS OF SHIELD in early 2016, as happened earlier in 2015.
