Kylo Ren Looks Like an Adapted Version of Darth Revan in STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS

Within the year after Disney bought Lucasfilm and Star Wars it was announced that anything outside of the Prequel Trilogy, Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series, Star Wars: Rebels and the Original Trilogy were no longer canon.

Once this happened it became possible for some non-canon stuff to be adapted into a newer version and thus becoming a part of Lucasfilms' official Star Wars story canon. It appears one of the most popular Sith Lords in (now) non-canon may have been somewhat adapted. Darth Revan was the star of the Knights of the Old Republic video games on the original XBox and there's been a solid fan obsession with him since his debut in 2003.

In STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS, the villain Kylo Ren looks like an adapted version of Darth Revan in costume and mask. The only thing that doesn't match up with Revan is Ren's cross-guard lightsaber. Revan was often associated as using dual lightsabers (red and purple).

You've seen a close up of Ren's mask in the second teaser but here's a full look at his movie costume from the showroom floor at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim 2015.

To compare, here's a few looks at Darth Revan.

Looks pretty similar to me and it's a great way to adapt the highly popular Revan, from the Star Wars Expanded Universe content, into the new trilogy.
