GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 2 Will Look at the Daddy Issues of STAR-LORD, GAMORA and NEBULA

The emotional scene at the start of GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY set the tone for the rest of the film that had Peter Quill hiding from that moment from his childhood. By the end of the film, Star-Lord made peace with the passing of his mother but another question arose.

It was mentioned that Yondu was set to grab Quill from Earth and bring him to his father. But that didn't happen as Yondu must have had a liking for the kid and it was assumed a little bit of a father-like relationship developed between Quill and Yondu.

With the question of who the father of Star-Lord is being set up at the end of the movie, it was obvious this was going to be explored in the sequel. Writer and director James Gunn has confirmed this for GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 2, via Vulture.

"There's a lot of stuff I'm excited about in the new movie. Listen, I'm still excited about Star-Lord's character and where he goes. "At its heart, Guardians is a story about families, and if the first film was about him and his mother, this is a story about fathers. So it's exciting to go there.
"I knew for a long time what the story of the second one was gonna be. And the third one!"

Star-Lord isn't the only father-centric story that will probably be explored in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 2 because in the first film fans were shown that Thanos is father to both Gamora and Nebula. In the sequel, Gunn will most likely explore the girls' relationship with their evil daddy since he said they will have larger roles.

"I think that the characters of Gamora, Nebula and Yondu are some characters we get to know a little bit more in the way that we got to know some of the other characters in the first movie," Gunn said to MTV at the AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON premiere.
