DOCTOR STRANGE Could be British and Will Film in London and New York This November

Marvel Studios movies are known to reference things from the comic book universe but they are more of a loose adaptation of the source material. Staying somewhat true to the source material is a tough balance as some things are going to be changed for film and sometimes fans don't like those changes (see The Mandarin).

Well, it looks like Marvel might be making a big change to another character, Doctor Strange. Actor Benedict Cumberbatch has already landed the leading role as the Master of the Mystic Arts and while he's American in the comics, the movie version could be British.

"We have not discussed accent with him yet, but he’s Benedict Cumberbatch so I think he can do anything we ask him to," studio president Kevin Feige said to MTV News.

Some fans may not like a British Doctor Strange but it's really not a big deal at all and makes sense to have a British actor in a leading hero role instead of being the villain as many British actors have been in multiple Marvel Studios films.

Feige also confirmed that DOCTOR STRANGE will have its production home in London, film a little bit in New York and it starts shooting this November.

"Having it finally coming to fruition, Scott Derrickson, the producing team are on a scout right now, they just finished scouting in New York City, for certain buildings that Doctor Strange inhabits. They’re on their way to London where principal photography is starting in November. And it’s great. Benedict has been on a bit of a whirlwind tour up until now, but is so excited. We are as excited to have him as he is to be a part of this universe. So this is a nice combination."

DOCTOR STRANGE releases in theaters on November 4, 2016.
