AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Reportedly Has its Writers and Each Part Will Still be its Own Standalone Movie

This should really come as no surprise after Anthony and Joe Russo were officially announced as the directors of AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR, PART I & II, but the 2-parter's writers have signed on the dotted line. Captain America franchise writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely will reportedly write both AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR movies, according to BadAssDigest.

Having written all three of the Captain America movies and working with the Russo on CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER and CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR, it was the logical choice by Marvel Studios. The Russos, Markus and McFeely obviously work very well together and while Marvel says THOR: RAGNAROK is the most important piece of Phase 3, Civil War will set up Phase 3 and set the tone leading up to Infinity War.

Being the studios' first 2-part movie some fans might think the first film will end open-ended and without closure, because there's a second part. This isn't the case according to studio president Kevin Feige in an interview with MTV News.

"It’s early days to talk about anything specifically, but I will say the intention of that is to do two, distinct stand-alone movies, as we do all the time. But because they [have] such shared elements, it felt appropriate. And we hadn’t done it before! So it felt appropriate to do subgroupings like that. But I wouldn’t call it one story that’s cut in half. I would say it’s going to be two distinct movies."

Of course Part I is the set-up movie for an epic, mega-scaled battle with Thanos for the majority of the second film. But Feige is saying that Part I will have its own closure so it can stand on its one, too.
