Humor in DEADPOOL Should Have a Bigger Role Than in Any Past Marvel Super Hero Film

Unless you're unfamiliar with the Marvel anti-hero hero Deadpool, then you already know he's one of the craziest action/comedy stars in the comic book universe. Few characters come close to the level of hyper-violence and comedy seen in the panels in his books. And the movie seems like it is going to translate the level of humor Deadpool has in his comics to the big screen.

With a script written by writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, you have to think more along the lines of the comedy in their script for Zombieland with a mix of the action sequences from their G.I. Joe: Retaliation script. Leading actor Ryan Reynolds has also been known to dabble in comedy (Van Wilder) and a few hints of the comedy he may explore in Deadpool can be seen when he was Wade Wilson (pre-mouth sewn shut) in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Then you add actor T.J. Miller (Silicon Valley, Big Hero 6) and you get another person who is fun and entertaining in his comedy roles. Previously, Miller's role was unknown but he took to his Twitter account to confirm he is playing Weasel. If you're not familiar with Weasel in the comics, he is pretty much a Deadpool sidekick, friend and arms dealer whom also is a bit mentally unstable and Deadpool tends to mistreat him.

In the comics, Weasel isn't in the same type of comedic role of Deadpool fan favorite sidekick Hydra Bob but he might be somewhat of a mix of the two. Please note that Hydra Bob cannot be used by Fox since Marvel Studios owns the movie rights to all-things Hydra

An insider has recently implied to The Daily SuperHero that the level of humor in Deadpool seems to be beyond what has been seen in past Marvel films from either Marvel Studios, Sony or Fox. Although the insider was mixing a little bit of personal opinion with conjecture into those comments about the amount of humor.

Reynolds is very devoted to the character and knows fans want a great mix of humor and action and he has gone public to make sure the fan base knows this movie will be true to the character by most recently saying on his Twitter account that, "...[T]he best thing about a Deadpool photoshoot, is singing Dolly Parton songs full blast while heavily, HEAVILY armed. Unexpected."

Deadpool releases in theaters on February 12, 2016.
