LEGO STAR WARS: DROID TALES to Retell the Entire Saga in LEGO Form; Coming This Fall to Disney XD

This fall prepare to see Star Wars everywhere as Disney and Lucasfilm begin their marketing campaign for the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, in December.

One of the many Star Wars-related things coming this fall will be a retelling of the original and prequel trilogies in LEGO form on Disney XD. The Hollywood Reporter initially reported this news and The LEGO Group followed it up with an official confirmation:

“Since we introduced our first LEGO Star Wars set in 1999, we have seen and heard from countless Star Wars fans who have used LEGO bricks to tell their own version of this timeless story, re-enacting favorite scenes and imagining new story lines,” said Jill Wilfert, vice president of licensing and entertainment for The LEGO Group. “LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales gives us an opportunity to share highlights of the Star Wars story with a sense of humor and excitement that can only be conveyed through the LEGO brick, and will be a fun resource for families as they gear up for the next movie.”

THR reported the following about this new animated mini-series:

"Disney XD has picked up Lego Star Wars: Droid Tales, an animated take on the six Star Wars movies. The limited series consists of five 22-minute episodes that will air later this year. Force Awakens opens galaxy wide Dec. 18.
"But this is not an ordinary Star Wars in 22 minutes. The conceit is that the movies are being retold through the eyes of robots C-3PO and R2-D2 in a brand new story.
"Set after the Rebel Alliance victory on Endor seen at the end of Return of the Jedi, the droids are regaling the assembly with their adventures that led them to their present situation. An accidental kidnapping leads to a new adventure that progresses to the retelling of the saga in chronological order, from The Phantom Menace to Return of the Jedi."

Sounds similar to when C-3PO was retelling the story of A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back to the Ewoks, in Return of the Jedi.
