DEADPOOL Lands its Leading Lady but Will Recast COLOSSUS

Gearing up to start principle photography, 20th Century Fox's Deadpool movie has been making some recent headlines (see those links at the end of this post). Today, the film has landed its leading lady.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Morena Baccarin (Gotham, V) has landed that role in Deadpool. The trade website describes the role as:

"Baccarin was one of a handful of actresses shortlisted for the role of Reynolds' character's love interest. The character grapples with falling for a man with a hideously scarred face."

The role is still undisclosed and some sites claim she could be playing Copycat — who has a similar power set as Mystique — based on recent casting audition sheets, but until anything is officially announced there's a chance she could also be Domino. In the comics, Copycat has a rapport with Deadpool but not many female characters have been in Deadpool comics more than Domino. Heck, she once did this to Deadpool in the comics.

In other Deadpool news, several days ago it was revealed that Colossus would be making an appearance in the film but it was unknown if Daniel Cudmore would be reprising his role from the X-Men films. The actor took to his own Twitter account to officially announce he will not reprise the role.

Look for a younger actor to fill the metal shoes of Colossus. And with filming set to begin in just a couple weeks, in Vancouver, that casting announcement will be coming sooner than later.

Finally, Ryan Reynolds took to Twitter to tease a potential dance routine coming to the Deadpool movie with several of its actors. Maybe. Probably. Not really sure but it would be entertaining at least.

Deadpool releases in theaters on February 12, 2016.
