RUMOR! SPIDER-MAN Might be Coming Back to Marvel Studios For AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR



In order to not splatter this post with rumor tags everywhere, I'll get it out of the way right now... RUMOR!

So apparently Sony's Spider-Man Summit meeting with top studio executives has come and gone. According to the website Latino-Review, Sony and Marvel Studios have agreed to bring Spider-Man to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Although not for Captain America: Civil War because that window of opportunity has reportedly come and gone for an MCU Spidey debut.

Instead, the website reports that Spider-Man will make his first appearance in 2018 in Avengers: Infinity War, Part I but not with actor Andrew Garfield. The how and why this happens is a bit too speculative and perhaps spoilery by Latino-Review, so The Daily SuperHero will not get into those details. So what does this mean?

It means that Marvel Studios allegedly wants to bring in Spider-Man to beef up their Phase 3 slate of films which could then lead to a Phase 4 headlined by the return of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. If this is the plan, then it is a grand plan which will make Marvel and Spidey fans very, very happy.

However, it is unknown what Sony's plans would then be for future Spidey films. Will a solo Spidey film be made by Sony or Marvel Studios? If it's Sony, will they follow the story path created by Marvel Studios? And what about the Spidey spin-offs for Sinister Six and Venom? 

Lots of questions right now and until Sony and/or Marvel Studios makes an official announcement about Spider-Man, all we can do is speculate and debate right now over this RUMOR. Especially since 2018 is far away and things change often in the movie production business.
