Fox Hires Writer for GAMBIT Spin-Off Based on X-MEN Comic Book Scribe Chris Claremont's Story Treatment

Back in May, reports hit the web confirming that actor Channing Tatum was indeed cast as the mutant Gambit for future X-Men movies and a potential solo movie. Now, a Gambit solo movie is confirmed as moving forward to script as Fox has hired a writer.

According to Deadline, writer Josh Zetumer (Robocop reboot) has been brought onboard to fully develop a story treatment into a script. The treatment was created by none other than legendary X-Men comic book writer Chris Claremont. If you're not familiar with Claremont's X-Men work, Stan Lee and Jack Kirby may have created the team but it was Claremont who took the team to another level in the mid-70s and the reason the X-Men became such a widely popular comic book title.

No further details about Gambit are available right now but there have been rumors swirling around the Internet claiming he could be introduced in X-Men: Apocalypse before he gets his chance to have his own solo movie.
