DEADPOOL is Definitely a Part of Fox's Expanding and Shared X-MEN Movie Universe Plans

Since 20th Century Fox announced they greenlit a Deadpool movie for production there have been some questions to whether or not the Merc With a Mouth would be included in Fox's X-Men movie universe. X-Men writer and producer Simon Kinberg has now spoke about how Deadpool will be a part of a growing and shared X-Men movie universe at Fox.

“There’s definitely a sort of overall plan that we’ve all been talking about for the X-Men universe now, and Deadpool obviously fits into that," Kinberg said. "So yeah, I guess I would say it's part of certainly an overall timeline and thought process that goes into these films, some of which is inspired by the comics and some which is inspired by seeing what Marvel’s done with telling a larger tapestry and linking all those movies together, even as they stand independently as well. The same kind of thought is going to go into these X-Men movies at Fox.”

Kinberg does not flat out say if Deadpool will crossover with any of the X-Men films or potentially show up in future X-Men (or a currently-being-developed X-Force) movies. But the box office success of the Deadpool movie will surely increase the odds of Deadpool having a much, much larger role in Fox's expanding X-Men movie universe.

Deadpool releases in theaters on February 12, 2016.
