X-MEN DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Extended Cut to Include ROGUE Cut Sequence, Coming to Stores in 2015

At the beginning of August it was announced that 20th Century Fox would be releasing an extended cut of X-Men Days of Future Past sometime in 2015. This was both shocking and confusing since Fox was potentially hurting sales of the theatrical cut of the X-Men sequel's home release on October 14. (I know that I won't be buying the October 14 Blu Ray and instead I'm waiting for the extended cut, and I know many others who are doing the same.)

Regardless of the fact that Fox should have announced the extended cut after this upcoming holiday season to maximize sales, X-Men Days of Future Past writer and producer Simon Kinberg confirmed the extended cut will come sometime in the first half of 2015, most likely near the start of summer. Kinberg also confirmed Rogue's cut sequence will be included in the extended cut.

“'It’s a big chunk, a substantial part of the movie,' Kinberg said of Rogue's storyline, via Variety. 'We want to give (fans) the fullest picture of the film — behind the camera, and in front of it,' with the 'Rogue Cut' and provide 'more of the process we went through' to make the film.
“Every movie has scenes that are cut out, but not every movie has scenes cut out with such a beloved character."

Kinberg then said why Rogue was cut out of the theatrical cut of X-Men Days of Future Past.

“It’s the most complicated movie I’ve ever worked on," Kinberg said to Variety, aslo citing "...[it's] full of plots and subplots" which made it difficult to include everything they filmed for the movie.

X-Men Days of Future Past is now available via digital HD download and hits store shelves on Blu Ray and DVD on October 14, 2014.
