No MS. MARVEL [CAPTAIN MARVEL] in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 2? James Gunn Wants Less Earthlings

Marvel fans want Ms. Marvel (or Captain Marvel) to show up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe... badly. And Marvel Studios knows this but won't rush a female-led super hero movie just to have one and is patiently developing the right story for this eventual standalone movie.

Even though Marvel is taking a slow approach for Ms. Marvel (Captain Marvel) in her own film, fans are still putting the pressure on the studio to introduce her as soon as possible. Guardians of the Galaxy writer/director James Gunn isn't going to feel that pressure and he isn't doing any favors for the female hero, or her fans, by including her into Guardians of the Galaxy 2.

While at Dragon Con in Atlanta over the past weekend, Gunn spoke about this (via Collider.com). And despite debunking the inclusion of Ms. Marvel (Captain Marvel) in Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Gunn said he will bring new females into the sequel, albeit of the alien variety.

Collider reported the following from Gunn at Dragon Con:

"The next question asked was about female superheroes within the Marvel universe, whether or not James would be incorporating any of them, and whether he had plans to bring in Carol Danvers, the current Captain Marvel, into the roster. Gunn stated that he wanted to steer clear of 'earthlings' in his side of the Marvel universe, allowing Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) to be the main focus from Earth. While he agreed that more than likely, Carol Danvers would appear sooner rather than later in the Marvel movies, there were plenty of other women in the comic book roster of the Guardians of the Galaxy and he was more than excited to begin introducing them into future films. The plan, according to Gunn, is to introduce new female characters into the world of Guardians as soon as he could."

There are plenty of female alien heroes or villains to add to Guardians of the Galaxy 2 including: Moondragon, Angela, Mantis, Quasar and Starhawk to name a few. (Click on each of these ladies' names to read more about them.)

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is currently in development and has a release date set for July 28, 2017.
