GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 2: A Certain Father Won't Be the Same as in Marvel's Comic Book Universe

This is not really a post in need of a SPOILER ALERT mainly due to the fact this is information that is being shot down about Guardians of the Galaxy 2. Read at your own risk if you don't want to know anything about the sequel.

Writer and director James Gunn is a rare man when it comes to openly confirming and debunking things to the news media or on social media. He's debunked that Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will be part Planet Hulk story and he's debunked Planet Hulk as a solo movie entirely. (Side Note: He never debunked adapting Planet Hulk comic book story lines into a part of other future films.) He has also confirmed the person in the cocoon of the post-credits scene of Thor: The Dark World was exactly who fans thought it was.

So while fans try to hypothesize who Star-Lord's father could be in Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Gunn has confirmed who it won't be, via Empire.

"It’s definitely not the character who it is in the comics, I’ll say that much."

Gunn is referring to J'son of Spartax, Emperor of the Spartoi Empire, and Star-Lord's father in the comic book universe.  Click right here to read more about J'son (pronounced JAY-SON.) There goes all those theory posts that were already written and published online.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is set to release in theaters on July 28, 2017.
