Joss Whedon and Actors Introduce SCARLET WITCH and QUICKSILVER in AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON

This week Entertainment Weekly landed one of the hottest movie reveals with Marvel Studios' ensemble sequel Avengers: Age of Ultron. Just in time for next week's San Diego Comic-Con! The media outlet has already provided the first glimpse of the title villain and first image of the Avengers, plus reveals of Ultron's movie origin as well as Vision's movie origin.

So much exciting information to take in over the past few days! But EW isn't finished. They are still pumping out the Avengers sequel reveals.

Today offers some info at new additions Scarlet Witch (played by Elizabeth Olsen) and Quicksilver (played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson). Writer/director Joss Whedon told EW:

"They’re on Team Ultron, which makes things really hard for the Avengers because all of sudden they’re dealing with powers that they’re not used to. With the Avengers, everybody pretty much had the power of being able to punch somebody, and now we have a woman who can get inside your head and move objects, and a boy that can move faster than anything, and a robot [Ultron] who can self-replicate and is out of his mind. So all of sudden, it’s a darker, weirder, tougher world that they’re living in."

Taylor-Johnson then chimed in about the brother/sister duo.

"They’re gypsies in a way. They’re Romani. They’re sort of like travelers. With no ties to the world, naturally they couldn’t care less if it burns.
"There’s a lot of clashing. [Quicksilver is] quick tempered. He gets agitated. He’s impatient. But he’s super protective. They’re very yin-and-yang in that twin sense. In his power, he’s physical and she’s psychological. My character is very much on the frontline, but he can be quite emotional. You see this beautiful tenderness between them."

Olsen's turn to tease Scarlet Witch and she knows a little something about how twins interact too.

"The reason she’s so special is because she has such a vast amount of knowledge that she’s unable to learn how to control it. No one taught her how to control it properly. So it gets the best of her. It’s not that she’s mentally insane, it’s just that she’s just overly stimulated. And she can connect to this world and parallel worlds at the same time, and parallel times.
"My understanding of twins is that they always balance each other out. When one’s high, the other one’s low. When one’s sick, the other one’s healthy. That happens, I think, a lot more often than not when people are really close as twins."

Avengers: Age of Ultron is currently filming in the U.K. and is set to release in theaters on May 1, 2015.
