Comic-Con 2014: ANT-MAN Confirmed to Have YELLOWJACKET as its Villain, Played by Actor Corey Stoll

Marvel Studios rocked Hall H at the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con International. As per usual.

Their main focus was the movies coming in 2015 and they led with Ant-Man. Director Peyton Reed came out to a reserved reception, mainly due to the fact most fan really hated the fact that Marvel and writer/director Edgar Wright butted heads and parted ways. But this is a thing of the past and it's time to move forward with Reed.

One of the biggest reveals for Ant-Man was that actor Corey Stoll (House of Cards) is confirmed as scientist Darren Cross. Stoll is also confirmed to be the film's villain Yellowjacket. This is a bit of a twist from the comic canon as Dr. Hank Pym is Yellowjacket. Michael Douglas is portraying Pym as a much older character and there is no way he'd eventually become Yellowjacket.

Meanwhile, according to Marvel, Cross was mentored by Pym but things went south between the two of them. Cross somehow gets his hands on Pym Particles and Yellowjacket is born. Obviously the details were vague because Marvel doesn't want to ruin the movie before it begins filming on August 18 in Atlanta.

Ant-Man is set to release in theaters on July 17, 2015.
