DOCTOR STRANGE: Actors Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hardy are the First to be Targeted by Marvel Studios

For several months now some of the Marvel Studios fan base have fan casting actor Benedict Cumberbatch (Star Trek Into Darkness, The Hobbit Trilogy) as their choice for the leading role of Marvel's worst kept secret upcoming Doctor Strange movie. One of The Daily SuperHero's own insiders even mentioned this as being a potential match in a post back in December 2013. (Click here to read that.)

Seems like those fans can talk about it even more since Cumberbatch and actor Tom Hardy (Inception, The Dark Knight Rises) are said to be the frontrunners for Doctor Strange. According to a Deadline report, both actors are the first two to make Marvel's newly developing casting list for Doctor Strange.

With a new director in place, recently hired horror genre geek Scott Derrickson, it was only a matter of time until an actor wish list would be complied.  All of this and still no "official green light" for Doctor Strange, or a theatrical release date.

However, when a director is hired it is a foregone conclusion the good Doctor will get his official announcement from Marvel any day now. Or it will be the worst kept Marvel secret and get announced at this summer's San Diego Comic-Con during Marvel Studios' big panel.
