Director Tim Miller Implies DEADPOOL Movie is Close After New Script Revisions But Still Needs a Green Light From Fox

20th Century Fox is highly focused on next summer's X-Men Days of Future Past, 2015's The Fantastic Four (rumored title) reboot and developing a hopeful X-Force film. But they should start paying more attention to another movie property of thiers that is slowly moving forward. Ever since Deadpool was in X-Men Origins: Wolverine fans, and especially actor Ryan Reynolds, have been pushing to get the solo film green lit by Fox.

Apparently that green light is closer than ever having gone through some new rewrites, according to Deadpool director Tim Miller in a recent interview with Clevver Movies.

"We will never give up! Deadpool is still alive and we’re just waiting for the studio to embrace what an amazingly ***ing awesome film this would be," Miller said. "Ryan is ready, I am ready, the fans are MORE than ready—we just need that elusive green light!"

Reynolds has usually been the most vocal about a Deadpool movie in the past, and he did mention the project is still on the horizon in an interview with Yahoo! Movies UK last week.

"In the last couple of weeks, it’s take a few very, very small tiptoes forward,” Reynolds said, then continued. "[In] its current iteration the movie’s actually very small. There’s minimal impact to the studio, which is the way we’re kind of presenting it to them. We’re saying ‘Look, the budget is minimal. Therefore, can we do this the way it should be done?’ Which unfortunately needs a Rated R [age certificate] or it needs those elements."

With Miller issuing an update about rewrites, it could mean a Deadpool movie may have toned down some of the hyper-violence the anti-hero is known for in the comics. Or it might have been a way to try and cut the budget down more in order to get interest from Fox.  Whichever the case may be Fox needs to seriously consider moving forward with Deadpool now that Kick-Ass and Kick-Ass 2 have shown that a big summer hit doesn't need to have a budget over $100 million and still make big profits.

Deadpool fans (The Daily SuperHero included) will be paying close attention to this and hopefully good news is on the way soon... but don't hold your breath since Deadpool has been in development for what seems like a decade already. Four years to be exact.
