So things have not been working out well for Brainy and Nia in 2009. They get captured by the zoo keepers and they’re unable to defend themselves with power dampeners surrounding them. They’re very nearly closed to being captured when Kara hears them and saves them. She gets them released and as a team they capture the zoo keepers and lock them in their own cages. Irony.
While this problem has been solved, our heroes don’t realize this has all been filmed by Cat Grant. Brainy and Nia say goodbye to the others and continue their mission to get the debris with Kara’s blood on it. However, Nia has another vision about an empty cage and sensing a cougar behind her. She’s rightly shaken up by this.
Kara and Kenny go to prom. Brainy and Nia kill time as they wait for the meteor.
Cat, of course, insists on continuing her investigation. She gets to the alien spaceship, where it’s waiting to be apprehended by the DEO, and releases the zookeeper. Wow. Cat. You’re being less than helpful right now. She gets herself captured and the blue man group decides to try and smoke Kara out.
Kara, meanwhile, is just trying to enjoy her prom with Kenny. When the meteor makes its way towards the school. Kara destroys it but the Kryptonite weakens her. This is a trap set up by Naxim to find Kara but Kenny sacrifices himself and Naxim kidnaps him.
This sweet stupid boy just made himself bait. Kara wants to go after him but Nia knocks her out so they can take care of the rescue mission without her getting herself hurt. They make their way to their ship where Nia is stopped by another vision where she stops the cougar from attacking her and sees the initials PW on the cage. She’s brought back to reality in time to see the zookeepers about to attack her but she has managed to bring back the cougar from her dream and it attacks them. Ha. That’s a cool trick.
Brainy and Nia manage to get Cat and Kenny out of there as the pink cougar is running after the zookeepers but the pink cougar is captured. Kara and Alex manage to get out of the school and Kara hurries to save her friends just as Naxim is about to attack them. They accidentally release a school of land sharks and Kara is forced to confront the police about who she is. Kara flies out of there before the police take her.
Brainy and Nia decide the best way to salvage this is to go back before Cat finds Naxim’s ship. They get to the ship and go back in time 4 hours. But of course, Kara decides to stowaway on the ship to help. Sigh, Kara. They allow her to help distract the past Alex and Kenny.
Nia manages to find Cat and convince her to leave the Daily Planet and become the journalist she was always meant to be. Nia meets up with Brainy and Kara and the shift works and brings them back an hour before the meteor is about to hit. Brainy and Nia confirm that Cat is out of the way, Naxim is on his way to be captured by the DEO, and they successfully get the debris with Kara’s DNA.
With them finally completing their mission (with a dozen missteps), Brainy and Nia finally go back to the present to try and save Kara.
