Marvel Studios in Talks With Director Sam Raimi For DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS

Last month Marvel Studios parted ways with DOCTOR STRANGE director Scott Derrickson for its sequel, DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS. It was also reported how the studio was acting quick to hire a new director so they can maintain their production schedule, which begins in May.

Well, according to Variety, Marvel Studios may have already found their man as they are engaged in talks with director Sam Raimi for the DOCTOR STRANGE sequel.

Yeah... that Sam Raimi, who helmed Sony's SPIDER-MAN Trilogy as well as the EVIL DEAD Trilogy. (Speculative side note: It would be really cool to see Tobey Maguire reprise his role as Spider-Man for a quick cameo seeing as how this is a movie about the Multiverse, just saying.)

Actor Benedict Cumberbatch will reprise his role as Sorcerer Supreme with Benedict Wong and Chiwetel Ejiofor returning as Wong and Mordo, respectfully. Actress Elizabeth Olsen will also co-star as her Marvel Cinematic Universe role Scarlet Witch (Wanda Maximoff). Olsen's Disney+ streaming series WANDAVISION will debut in December 2020 as somewhat of a set-up for DOCTOR STRANGE 2.

DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS releases on May 7, 2021.
