Disney to Use Newly Acquired Fox Studio Complex in Australia For SHANG-CHI and THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER

One of the lesser known facts about Disney's buyout of Fox's assets is how the deal included the acquisition of Fox's giant studio complex in Australia.

According to Variety, Disney will begin using this newly acquired facility when Marvel Studios shoots SHANG-CHI AND THE LEGEND OF THE TEN RINGS in early 2020 followed by filming THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER in late summer 2020.

Over the past five-plus years, Marvel Studios has filmed the majority of their movies at Pinewood Studios in Atlanta. But due to political issues in Georgia, as well as now owning Fox's Australia studio complex, Disney and Marvel Studios may be filming less in Atlanta since their costs will be much lower when they do not have to pay to rent out space at Pinewood. (This is an assumption and not fact but common sense says the Australia facility will be used a lot by Disney and Marvel Studios moving forward.)

SHANG-CHI is set to release on February 12, 2021.

THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER releases on November 5, 2021.
