Sounds Like James Gunn is Setting Up Adam Warlock For Something After GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3

One of the many end credits scenes for GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 had Aeysha creating her next champion she has named Adam. It is obvious this is a teaser for the arrival of Adam Warlock in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, although it may not be in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3 as many fans have assumed.

According to writer and director James Gunn, there is no confirmation Adam will be in the third film of his space opera trilogy.

12 And despite so many people thinking Adam will show up in Vol 3 that is something that we have never confirmed. Who knows how long it will take him to bake in that cocoon. That said, I love Adam. But the time must be right.

I think we need to look at the bigger picture here because past reports say how Gunn is taking command of the MCU from the Russo Brothers after the events of AVENGERS 4. In theory, Gunn could be setting up Adam to be the next big villain of the cosmos after Thanos and perhaps this means some set-up of Him being his evil alter-ego Magus in Vol. 3. This could possibly lead into AVENGERS 5 where Magus will be defeated and Adam Warlock will arise from that defeat. Yes, this is my own speculation here but something to consider when reading too far into Gunn's tweets above.
