Sony is Developing a MORBIUS THE LIVING VAMPIRE Movie to Add to Their Own Marvel Cinematic Universe

It is known that Sony has the live action rights to all-things Spider-Man, yet Spider-Man might not be in any of their Marvel spin-off films featuring the heroes and villains under the umbrella of their Spidey deal.

Right now, Peter Parker (played by Tom Holland) is over in Marvel Studios' cinematic universe fighting alongside of the Avengers as Thanos looms. According to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, Spidey will not also be a part of Sony's Marvel spin-off universe. Meanwhile, Sony thinks he might be — we should all believe Feige and nobody else when it comes to Spider-Man proper.

Right now, Sony is in production with their first Marvel spin-off movie starring Tom Hardy in VENOM. Also in development is SILVER & BLACK, featuring Silver Sable and Black Cat.

Now, The Hollywood Reporter has word that Sony has been secretly developing another Marvel spin-off, MORBIUS THE LIVING VAMPIRE, with the guys who wrote the last POWER RANGERS movie, Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama.

If you're not familiar with the character in the comics, Dr. Michael Morbius tried to cure himself of a blood disorder and the results of that experiment turned him into the blood-thirsty vampire Morbius. Originally a villain, Morbius has become more of an anti-hero now.

No word yet on any production schedule or possible release date as of the publishing of this post.
