JUSTICE LEAGUE Projected to Open in the U.S. With $110 Million

JUSTICE LEAGUE is finally set to hit theaters tonight for its Thursday night screenings. So far it has gotten mixed reviews with more disliking the latest attempt by Warner Bros. at bringing their DC to the big screen more than those who liked it. It's Rotten Tomatoes score was also revealed to be at 43-percent. I didn't hate the movie, but I didn't absolutely love it either. It was more enjoyable than BATMAN V. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE, and SUICIDE SQUAD set the bar so low their was no way JUSTICE LEAGUE would be as bad, and it isn't. (Read my review here.)

Several weeks ago, the earliet U.S. opening weekend box office predictions hit and they said JUSTICE LEAGUE could open as high as a $150 million. Now, an updated domestic projection has been revealed by Variety stating that the ensemble film will open to $110 million. This is less than the $166 million BATMAN V. SUPERMAN opened with, but more than the $103 million WONDER WOMAN took in over the summer.

The unfortunate bottom line here is that if Warner Bros. was hoping JUSTICE LEAGUE would become their first $1 billion film for the DCEU a $110 million opening will not help. Although, its International grosses could make up for things here in the states. It will be very interesting to watch how JUSTICE LEAGUE performs tonight, and over the weekend. The biggest thing to watch is how the word-of-mouth from moviegoers online trends because if there's one thing more powerful than critic's reviews, it is the power of word-of-mouth from the fans.
