Report: IMAX Exhibitors Will Decide if Marvel's INHUMANS Runs For its Full 2 Weeks

IMAX, who co-financed the production budget for first two episodes of Marvel's INHUMANS, is somewhat walking back on their previously firm commitment to run those first two episodes exclusively in their theaters for two straight weeks, starting on September 1.

This is a surprisingly new development seeing as how the original announcement for INHUMANS being shown in IMAX theaters specifically stated it would run for two weeks. Here's that snippet of the press release, from November 2016:

"...[A] version of the first two episodes of Marvel Television’s new series 'Marvel’s The Inhumans' – produced in conjunction with ABC Studios and filmed entirely with IMAX digital cameras – will run worldwide exclusively in IMAX for two weeks at the beginning of September 2017..."

Now, according to MCU Exchange, who reached out to Marvel TV for comment, has received the following statement:

“Per IMAX, exhibitors determine showtimes on a week-to-week basis and will continue to do so with Marvel’s Inhumans.”

This is totally different than what was presented by both Marvel TV and IMAX in fall of last year when INHUMANS was announced to debut in IMAX theaters before rolling out with additional content on ABC. And it does not sound like a confident answer from Marvel TV when the implication all along was to run for two weeks.

No further comment has been made about this perceived change in theatrical rollout; and IMAX has yet to comment as of the publishing of the post. So if you want to see it in IMAX.... make sure you see it within the first week because your local IMAX theater may pull the plug on it in Week 2.
