Rumored JUSTICE LEAGUE Reshoots Claim to be a Massive Overhaul For the Film

Several year ago when fans would hear a movie was going in for reshoots, it was cause major panic. That was before Marvel Studios decided reshoots are a needed and necessary part of the filmmaking process. After spending some time editing it in a dark room for weeks and months at a time after principle photography wrapped, sometimes you need to reshoot scenes or even re-write certain parts and shoot new footage. Reshoots are now scheduled in advance for the biggest movies in the industry and are normal.

But sometimes there are massive reshoots that are rumored and recently films like ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY as well as SUICIDE SQUAD were both rumored to undergo massive reshoots to change large parts of their respective stories. Both started off as rumors that many shrugged off, but after these movies released it was confirmed they indeed went into more than your standard schedule reshoots. Sometimes it's for the better (ROGUE ONE) and sometimes it is not (SUICIDE SQUAD).

Which brings us to the latest rumors surrounding JUSTICE LEAGUE. Of course, Warner Bros. is facing more drama talk about one of their DC Extended Universe (DCEU) films because there's been drama talk surrounding all their past releases. The only exception is there has been minimal drama talk around WONDER WOMAN (thank goodness!). Fingers crossed her movie is a fantastic addition to the DCEU when it hit U.S. theaters on June 2.

Anyway, back to JUSTICE LEAGUE. This rumor is courtesy of a website called SplashReport and written by one of the former scoop / rumor writers from the website Latino-Review. Here's snippets of this rumor report:

“'There are more reshoots COMING SOON. There have been a bunch but they’re going to do MORE...'
"Speaking on a condition of anonymity, they said that in the 17 months between the start of principal photography and the final cut arriving in theaters in November that the film will have essentially been 'remade… twice.'
"They refused to offer any further details, but they said that Warner Bros. is really putting everything it has into overhauling the movie. Apparently, they didn’t like what they were seeing and so the film has had a lot of work put into trying to make it better while on its way towards its November 2017 release."

Then, TheWrap had to chime in — which is funny because their writer is also formerly from the same website, Latino-Review — and their studio insider said standard scheduled reshoots are occurring this summer and nothing more.

So we have two former writing colleagues going at each other with two different rumor reports. One will be right and one will be wrong, but who will be the victor remains to be seen at the moment.

Hopefully, we will learn more by the time the film releases this fall but there is history of Warner Bros. studio executives meddling with past DCEU movies in post-production forcing more than your standard reshoots. So don't be surprised if massive reshoots rumors evolve from rumor into truth.

JUSTICE LEAGUE releases in the U.S. on November 17.
