***This post contains SPOILERS for GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2!***

Today, websites who were invited — we are still waiting for our invitation — to the Atlanta set of GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 were allowed to finally post their reports. All of these posts contain the same exact quotes from the likes of Marvel Studios president Kevin Fiege, writer and director James Gunn, actor Chris Pratt and others in the main cast. However, if you read through many of these similar posts you can mine out some really interesting information.
Info like how movie starts. Again, spoiler alert if you really don't want to know.
So according to these set visit reports, the film opens with our group of misfits being hired by a race called the Sovereign, and their leader Ayesha.
“[Ayesha’s] a member of this race called the Sovereign and they're all genetically created by themselves as a self-sustaining race who are perfect," Gunn confirmed to Fandango. "They're created as perfect beings, and they think of themselves as perfect.”
The golden leader needs the help of the Guardians and she has called on them because of the results of the ending of the first film. Word has gotten out that the Guardians defeated Ronan the Accuser and how Peter Quill (WHO?!) was able to hold and survive direct contact with an Infinity Stone.
Ayesha wants to hire the Guardians to defeat an inter-dimensional space beast called the Abilisk, which is devouring batteries serving as the power source for the Sovereign.
“The Guardians have been asked to come in and dispatch with that thing, and that’s how our film starts," Feige confirms to Fandango. "Their legend and their mythology has grown and spread throughout the universe, because they defeated Ronan and because Peter, in particular, was able to hold an Infinity Stone and not die, which also has spread his legend.”
In exchange for their services, Ayesha will give the Guardians Nebula, who has been captured by the Sovereign while she was trying to find a way to repair her damaged hand from events at the end of the last movie. So the Guardians fight the beast, and you can see some of these action bits in the first teaser, trailer and the extended television spot that have already been released.
Obviously, the team defeats the beast and gets Nebula. Then the story goes on from there.
GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 releases here in the U.S. on May 5... is it May yet?!
