Box Office Preview: Let's Predict How Much Box Office Cash 2017's Super Hero Movies Could Make

In 2017 more super hero movies will be released than in any previous year. The movie industry is fueled by super heroes right now and there are no signs of slowing down despite the need for some to think that there is such a thing as "super hero fatigue." While this may eventually come true, it seems very unlikley to begin in 2017; or really even before 2020.

With so many super hero movies coming next year, let's try to predict the final worldwide totals of 2017's super hero films. Here's our initial predictions, followed by a quick breakdown of each movie:

LOGAN - $650 Million

The final turn as Wolverine by actor Hugh Jackman will have some built-in hype because many fans will want to see him as the mutant one last time. This should become Jackman's highest grossing solo Wolverine film.

-----

THOR: RAGNAROK - $750 Million

Thor has been somewhat more of an underground hit for Marvel Studios than a legit mainstream success as compared to several of his fellow Marvel Studios Avengers teammate solo films. But what should set this one apart from the previous two Thor movies is the unique voice and humor of director Taiki Wahiti as well as bringing Hulk into the mix. Add some Loki and you have the biggest grossing Thor solo movie yet.

[Below is not the trailer but the mockumentary video director by Taiki Wahiti which was revealed at San Diego Comic-Con 2016.]

-----

WONDER WOMAN - $900 Million

By the look of its trailers, this movie should deliver as DC's version of a period piece movie in a similar way CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER was successful. However, this is Wonder Woman and since this is her first ever solo movie it should bring in really big crowds; and perhaps bigger crowds than BATMAN V. SUPERMAN, which in retrospect is crazy to even say. Let's just hope this movie lives up to the hype and the studio releases the best cut of the movie for the theaters, not an extended cut for its eventual Blu Ray release.

-----

JUSTICE LEAGUE - $1 Billion

Warner Bros. really thought BATMAN V. SUPERMAN would be a $1 billion hit since it featured Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman on the big screen for the first time. It didn't work out but director Zack Snyder's next big ensemble movie should hit the magical $1 billion mark.

-----

THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE - $1.1 Billion

Write this down and quote us, "This could easily be the best Batman movie ever created." And if it really is then it could easily breach the $1 billion barrier. In fact, we think it'll perform better in the worldwide box office than JUSTICE LEAGE because it is more kid-friendly and kids love to go see movies, too. (This is our boldest box office prediction for 2017.)

-----

SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING - $1.2 Billion

Spider-Man + Iron Man = over $1 billion. 'Nuff said.

-----

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY - $1.3 Billion

The first full teaser trailer brought in over 81 million views in its first 24 hours of release. A sign that Volume 2 should be Marvel Studios' next $1 billion movie. Oh... and having the adorable Baby Groot easily helps this become a reality.
