SUICIDE SQUAD Moves Past the $600 Million Worldwide Mark in its 4th Weekend

It's been a strange road for SUICIDE SQUAD at the box office over the past four weekends. It broke August domestic opening weekend records previously held by rival Marvel Studios' GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. All the while being critically panned due to bad pacing, confusing (and repetitive) storytelling as well as leaks of many cut scenes mostly containing more of Jared Leto's Joker.

But money talks and SUICIDE SQUAD has been making money this month. In fact, the movie was only the fourth film in 2016 to maintain a three week in a row hold on the No. 1 spot in the domestic box office along with: DEADPOOL, THE JUNGLE BOOK and FINDING DORY. BATMAN V. SUPERMAN couldn't do that. CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR couldn't do it and X-MEN: APOCALYPSE couldn't make it happen either. That's an impressive feat for the villain ensemble movie.

In its fourth weekend of release SUICIDE SQUAD brought in approximately $12 million in the domestic box office bringing its total to $282M. This puts the movie in the No. 8 spot on the 2016 domestic list right behind No. 7 BATMAN V. SUPERMAN ($330M). It's doubtful SUICIDE SQUAD will surpass BATMAN V. SUPERMAN but the fact that it came so close puts even more pressure on next year's WONDER WOMAN and JUSTICE LEAGUE movies to perform to higher box office level in the states.

Overseas, the movie took in an additional $19M to up its International total to $353M.

The worldwide total for SUICIDE SQUAD is now at $635M placing it at No. 8 on the 2016 worldwide list. Not bad at all for a movie with a $175M production budget.
