Reactions to the WONDER WOMAN and JUSTICE LEAGUE Trailers From SDCC 2016

DC Films had an incredible showing at San Diego Comic-Con this past weekend. Kicking off the weekend with an excellent first poster for WONDER WOMAN. The poster is very simple but it definitely works and the added color makes her look even more stunning. She is an absolute force to be reckoned with.

We only got a small sample of Gal Gadot’s Diana Prince in BATMAN V. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE but it was enough to see that she can clearly hold her own in this role. The SDCC Trailer confirmed this and more as we finally get to see footage from the WONDER WOMAN solo movie.

The only question at this point is: why did this take so long to get made? The trailer teases a great adventure film with Diana’s fighting abilities front and center. It looks like we will finally have a great non-Batman DC movie. The excellent WONDER WOMAN theme music closes out the trailer and fans are left wishing it was June 2, 2017.

The surprises continued and DC brought some heat to SDCC with the first ever trailer for 2017’s JUSTICE LEAGUE, which was arguably the greatest moment of this year’s SDCC and easily one of the best new trailers seen all year.

The tone feels just right and it’s impossible not to get excited watching Bruce Wayne recruit the members. The combination of action and humor works very well here and the group has that rag-tag feel about them. This is not yet the legendary team we know, just a few heroes brought together by a common cause.

Jason Momoa’s Aquaman looks extremely menacing and it will be interesting to see what finally pushes him to join the team. Erza Miller brings the lightheartedness that has been missing from the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) and right away you can tell his version of the Flash is going to be different from Grant Gustin’s — who has also been fantastic in The CW show. The only complaint I have is his suit, it looks very clunky but it’s possible this is not the final version of the costume. The special effects on the super-speed also look very cool and different than what we have seen before with other speedsters on film.

We don’t see any hint of Superman which is to be expected after the events of BATMAN V. SUPERMAN but I hope they don’t hold off on his return for too long as he is obviously an important member of the league. Regardless of your feelings on the DCEU thus far, these trailers should leave most people with cautious optimism at the very least.
