Producer Simon Kinberg Hopes to Start Filming DEADPOOL 2 in Early 2017 and Updates WOLVERINE 3

At the 42nd Annual Saturn Awards, Collider had a few minutes to speak with writer and producer Simon Kinberg about WOLVERINE 3DEADPOOL 2 and several other things X-Men-related. Kinberg didn't divulge much about either film but he did say DEADPOOL 2 is moving right along and there is a hope to start shooting it in early 2017.

“The guys, [Paul] Wernick and [Rhett] Reese, are working on the script and we hope to have a script very soon. We hope to shoot the movie sometime at the beginning of next year.”

Kinberg also mentioned that it's not certain if DEADPOOL 2 will return to Vancouver to film the sequel.

He did acknowledge that WOLVERINE 3, which is currently filming in New Orleans, is under heavy secrecy because everyone involved wants the movie to be a surprise when its time to reveal anything about it. This is why there hasn't been any big leaks (yet?) and everything is just rumor and whispers in the wind right now.

"I can only tell you that it’s going extremely well and that’s about all I will tell you about it. We want [WOLVERINE 3] to be discovered the way that we used to watch movies a long time ago when you didn’t know everything about them before you went to go see them."

WOLVERINE 3 releases on March 3, 2017 and DEADPOOL 2 is still in development without an official release date set as of the publishing of this post.
