Chris Evans is Scared to Not Have a Captain America Movie Coming When His Marvel Contract Expires

When the final credits roll after AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR PART 2 there will be a group of actors whose Marvel Studios contracts will expire. This actor list includes the studios' Big 3: Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans. (And several others, too.)

Downey Jr. has been re-negotiating his contract to add appearances in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR as well as next summer's SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING but Evans and Hemsworth have yet to do the same. Perhaps they will when the time comes, but in the comics other heroes have taken over the shield and the hammer. For Cap, Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson have carried the shield and for Thor, most recently, Jane Foster has been 'worthy.'

Whether or not the plan in Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is to have new actors carrying the shield and the hammer remains to be seen, but there's definitely a chance the studio could switch up both Captain America and Thor.

However, as of right now, Evans is Cap and he spoke with Collider about his Marvel Studios contract and his future as Steve Rogers.

"There’s no re-upping [my Marvel contract] yet... We started this in 2010 and six years is gone in the blink of an eye and in the beginning it was so terrifying and now you’re almost scared. I’m scared to walk away. I’m scared to not have one of these coming. For the past six years there’s always been, next year we start that one and it’s been wonderful, especially cause the movies are so good. When you make good movies, who wants to stop doing that? So, I don’t know. We’ll see.
"I mean I know in the comic books the shield gets passed off and you do know, more than anything else in this process, and meeting fans, and experiencing these junkets, and people who love the character, the character is bigger than you and whatever the character needs, whatever Marvel needs for that arc, I’m willing to do. If that is me passing it off, you pass it off.
"If they want to make more, I’m ready."
