GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2: Pom Klementieff Confirmed to be Mantis

While everyone will talk about who actor Kurt Russell will be playing the role of Star-Lord's unknown father in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2, the mystery role for actor Pom Klementieff has been confirmed by writer/director James Gunn.

She is playing Mantis.

If you're not familiar with Mantis in the comics, she is is believed to be the Celestial Madonna by the alien race the Kree, therefore she is also believed to eventually become the mother of the Celestial Messiah. She has also been a part of the Guardians of the Galaxy team and Gunn has promised a new addition (or perhaps two) to the team in the sequel. It seems — without official confirmation — she is indeed that new team member unless creative adaptation takes place for her character in the movie.

Mantis' main powers are: accelerated healing, limited telepathy and a mastery of martial arts. To read more about Mantis on Marvel's official character page, click right here.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 is now filming at Pinewood Studios in Atlanta and releases on May 5, 2017.
